NHL IN 30/2016: PART 6 (STL, TOR, VAN, WAS, WPG)

St. Louis: The emergence of d-man Colton Parayko gives the blue line much needed top-heavy depth but the question remains whether Jake Allen can carry the sole burden of manning the crease with Brian Elliott now in Calgary. The balanced offensive attack should continue to provide enough firepower, but it should be time for Vladimir Tarasenko to enter elite territory as a sniping forward. What will the Nail Yakupov addition do for the team? If he can finally fulfill his potential, look out. Playoffs: Another deep run

1. The Canes finished strong last season but more offense will need to be generated in order for this momentum to continue in 2016. The loss of Eric Staal will be more than compensated by the additions of Teuvo Teravainen and Lee Stempniak. Youth will be served as Elias Lindholm and Viktor Rask will be expected to take another step forward offensively. Key memo to Justin Faulk- Stay healthy and elite status will come. Goalie Cam Ward has another resurgence coming. PLAYOFFS: MAYBE

NHL IN 30-SWEET SIXTEEN: NEW YORK RANGERS

#3 NEW YORK RANGERS

The New York Rangers advanced to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals but again failed to deliver a Stanley Cup for its faithful. The reigning President Trophy winner is definitely in win-now mode as arguably their two most vital players, G Henrik Lundqvist and LW Rick Nash are well in their 30's and not many elite prospects to draw from. The good news is that the defense is incredibly stout and there is plenty of depth on offense for another long run. The road could lead through MSG once again if everything falls into place.
