SUNDAY MORNING COFFEE - 10/6/2013

Posted by ray on Sun, 2013-10-06 09:06

Hockey is back!  Welcome to another season of Sunday Morning Coffee.  So grab a cup of joe and enjoy!

The pre-season needs to be a little shorter, don’t you think?  He players only need a few games to be ready anyway.

Hybrid icing makes sense.  It will save a lot of defensemen from serious injury.   Good vote players!

With the nets being less deep, that means more room behind the net, that hopefully result in some nice goal scoring opportunities.  Sorry goalies!

Grabovski looks good in a Caps jersey, doesn’t he?

I was hoping the Oilers would be more like last year’s Maple Leafs but they’ve only played two games, so there is plenty of time.

The Flyers should just let Steve Mason play most of the games in October and see if he’s got what it takes to be their starter because I don’t think Ray Emery is the solution.

Boston and Chicago look like they are going to be tough as nails to play against this season.

Detroit will be their typical selves once again, but maybe a little better without all that Western Conference travel.

Even though he isn’t on any of my fantasy teams, it is nice seeing Ovechkin back to his old self.

Torey Krug looks so good on the Bruins power play, doesn’t he?

Tuukka Rask, or as I like to call him T-Rask, could be the best goalie in the NHL right now.

The Maple Leafs are going to score a lot of points this season.  They have so many different types of scorers; they are just like Fall foliage.

My two Gals are starting off the season on fire as a duo.  Alexander Galchenyuk and Brendan Gallagher have 4 and 3 points, respectively, so far.

Lars Eller has gone 2-3-5 in the first 2 games.  He stands behind 2 Caps, Some guy named Ovechkin and another called Grabovski for the NHL scoring lead.

Blues G Jaroslav Halak has looked determined to keep the starter’s job all to himself this year.

I know the Buffalo Sabres are 0-3 but you can’t blame Ryan Miller who has played really well in net.  They just need to score.

With James Neal out for a few games, the Penguins would still need to lose another top player or two to injury in order to be on par with the rest of the teams in the NHL in terms of offensive power.

Corey Crawford was on his way to a shutout but lost it and then let the Bolts go on to win in the shootout.  Without Emery, Chicago hopes this doesn’t become a problem.

Joffrey Lupul had 7 SOG last night.  I guess his back is okay.

The Blue Jackets will not be a cakewalk this year.

The Islander trio of John Tavares, Matt Moulson and Lubomir Visnovsky is going to score a lot of points this year.

The Dallas Stars shut down the stars of the Washington Capitals last night.  That’s difficult to do.

Even after today’s games, the NY Rangers will only have played 1 NHL game to date.

Roberto Luongo is going to be good this year.  Kudos to all those who got to grab him at a discounted price.

Tomas Hertl could be a surprise factor in the Calder trophy running this year.

Rob Klinkhammer still has the best NHL name this year.

Enjoy your Sunday!
